In May of 1989, James and Debbie Moore obeyed the call of God to pioneer a new church. The first worship service was held on June 25th in the basement of a bank in Gladstone, Missouri. Twenty-three people attended, and the church continued meeting at the bank building for the next four years.

During that time the church grew slowly but steadily until it was apparent it could not continue in that facility. The search for a church site began, and through an amazing series of miracles, the church was able to purchase a five- acre tract of land on Highway 169 in Kansas City North. They proceeded to construct a place of worship there and then dedicate it to the Lord in September of 1993. The first special event in the new building was a missions conference.
The church's evangelism emphasis is accompanied by a desire to strengthen families and provide ministry opportunities for all believers. With the added blessing of having a permanent home facility, new ministries have been birthed and people are being brought into God's kingdom.

The emphasis on "practical" Christianity -- principles you can apply in your life today -- has been a strength of NLCC since its inception. Pastor Moore's simple down-to-earth teachings and his commitment to helping each person reach their full potential in Christ creates a climate of excitement and growth. Of course, it also brings people to a place of seeing their need to expand and mature. Growth is usually uncomfortable, so some choose to leave. But the ones who stay find a joy and a fulfillment that blesses them and blesses others. So NLCC continues to proclaim truth with love, and God continues to give the increase.

Pastor and Debbie are committed to completing their God-given assignment of establishing and pastoring this church until the Lord returns or He takes them by way of death. Until that time, they sincerely hope others will join them in the most exciting action on planet Earth -- making disciples of Jesus Christ!
